Hard to pigeon-hole, ‘Annie’s Song’ is a sublime slice of bright-eyed electro R&B featuring the stirring vocals of Sam Wills and some of the most sparkling production to have ever come out of the Perez studio. Plucked strings, affected vocals and fuzzy synths all melt together over a thick half-time break for a full-on future soul excursion perfect for those warmer springtime days ahead.
Of course the package wouldn’t be complete without an entourage of remixes from some of the best producers around right now. Shadow Child drops first his heavyweight bassline thumping UKG take on it whilst Zed Bias drops a super cool Maddslinky house remix strictly for our pleasure. Then it’s just left up to Hospital Record’s Brazilian boy-wonder S.P.Y. to take things into drum & bass territory, upping the BPM’s for a smooth amen workout.
Finally we’re treated to another slice of the album with Alix himself back in D&B mode for ‘We Could Have Been’ featuring D.Ablo; a house infused piece of liquid drum & bass, full of twinkling pianos and deep, deep vibes to keep the faithful happy
